Energy Fields and Energy Medicine

  • Acupuncture as effective energy medicine

  • One of the goals of TCM is to live in harmony with the Tao, nature. As we see increasingly all around us, the modern world is very much out of harmony with nature to the extent that we are polluting the planet and ourselves out of existence. I think that while science offers so much, it doesn't have all the answers and has (in combination with capitalism) pointed our world in the direction of destruction and not harmony. We still don't know how to express all the greatness that a human is while living lightly on this planet.

I lived many years with chronic asthma and allergies and let allopathic medicine have a fair shot. It wasn't until I got myself to an acupuncture and herbs clinic did my health begin to truly improve. I cannot explain the 'how and why' in mathematical or scientific terms but I have first hand knowledge of how much better I became after receiving acupuncture and herbs over the course of a solid year of my life. It's also helped me clear up seasonal sinus issues and lingering colds.  I don't need to outside proof that my experience is true.

Not just in energy medicine but also 35% of  the medical cures or symptom improvement in allopathic medicine are due to placebo effect.https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/mar/21/placebo-effect-medical-intervention)
All fields of medicine could be researching ways to 'activate' the placebo effect. Imagine a discovery of 'placebo effect activation' that made the percentage of cures 100%!

  • What conclusions can you draw from Kirlian photography

  • Being able to "measure" and "quantify" a phenomenon are important and central concepts in modern science. Many physical phenomenon have been discovered through math problems first and then confirmed with experiments developed later.  The "trouble" that western sciences have with the occult phenomenon and claims of eastern medicine and eastern philosophy is that these claims are often not quantifiable by current scientific methods and neither can they be described with a math equation (at least not yet). Enter Kirlian photography.

Sometime during the early 1940s Semyon Davidovich Kirlian his wife Valentina invented/discovered Kirlian photography. Mr. Kirilian was an electrical repair person specializing in repairing lab equipment for local scientists in Krasnodar, Russia.
    from Wikipedia
The claim is that their photography shows an organism's "living plasma body."  Inorganic materials are such as copper pennies are seen to have much weaker Kirlian photographs than living beings such as plants and human body parts. Kirlian photos of dead plants show weak or non-existent "living plasma bodies."

It is said that this bioplasm has been seen by Kirlian photography to be concentrated at hundreds of points (700) in the human body, corresponding with Chinese acupuncture points. I looked and looked online but was unable to find an image showing a Kirlian photograph of these points. It is probably because a surge in fascination with Kirlian photography was in the 1940-1970s and the internet didn't really get going until the 1990s.  At some point soon I'll try to see if there's a book out there that has cataloged the photos.

When it was originally introduced, the Soviets took this technology seriously and tried to study and utilize it early on.  But today it has been usurped by the aura readers, new age healers and so called "quacks." The legitimacy of Kirlian photography is in question not in fact but by reputation. However I think it could be a worthwhile for a creative student in Physics or Biology with an open minded adviser, to undertake independent study project to make further investigations into the phenomenon to see where it might lead.

    • Human intent as it affects health
Going around in day to day life without any goals or plans or intentions leaves us open to the whims of the day and the forces of modern life make it tempting to pick the lowest hanging fruit - but it doesn't always support physical health.

Without any clear intentions to live in a healthy way, a person could hit the snooze button 5 times before getting out of bed, drink coffee in the car and sit in traffic on the way to work, snack all day while sitting at their desk, eat the most convenient food - donuts on the way to work, fast food lunch, drinks with coworkers and happy hour food then home to watch tv and eat ice cream, surf the internet for a couple hours, smoke a cigarette, then go to sleep well after midnight and then do it all over again the next day; little to no exercise and no attention to they type of food they are eating.

Living life with a little intention and awareness, the same person could have a different sort of day: perhaps wake up early and go for a short walk and listen to the morning birds, eat some breakfast at home, pack a lunch, bike to work, take a few stretching breaks at their desk, instead of happy hour - go to a dance class after work and then have some vegan Thai food with their friends afterwards for dinner, and then go home and read something uplifting (not on the internet) and go to bed by 10 pm.

Assuming all other factors the same, I think the person living with more intention will have an easier time with the effects of aging and will be less likely to develop chronic illness. A little intention can go a long way to impact health!
